Founding PHP Director, Judy is a 2025 Westfield Local Hero Finalist

Our fantastic founding director Judy is a finalist in the 2025 Westfield Local Heroes Program, for Westfield Carousel!

What is this program?

Westfield Local Heroes is a recognition and awards program that shines the spotlight on individuals in Australia and New Zealand who make a positive impact to their local community or environment. Community members nominate their heroes and Westfield selects three finalists for each Westfield destination to go through to the community vote. The successful hero for each of the 42 Westfield destinations is awarded a $20,000 grant for the organisation or group they represent, and each finalist receives a $5,000 grant for their organisation or group.

Why was Judy nominated?

Everyone that knows Judy already knows why she deserves this recognition, and that any award will go toward supporting the community, and running community programs. The nomination includes the following (also on the voting page):

Passionate. Resilient. Tenacious. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Judy began sharing soup with neighbours, an act which grew into a movement of mutual support and care in her community. Her initiative, People Helping People International, now supports more than 70 families weekly with free food, and provides a variety of free events and activity programs. Driven by her own hardships, Judy works to help others navigate life’s challenges. If Judy is successful, the funds will be used for community and youth programs including emergency assistance for pet care, workshops, venue hire, community clean-ups and special calendar events.
